In 1981, after a clerkship with Judge I. Raymond Kermer and two years as in-house counsel for the Pennsylvania Manufacturers Association Insurance Company, Mr. Pitt decided to establish his own firm with a "workers' rights" outlook. Working with a staff of 25, his firm plays the caretaker role with clients by utilizing a customer focused approach. From the date of inquiry, guiding cases from initial filing in Harrisburg to appeal court appearances and long term follow up, Mr. Pitt's firm is involved in the complexities of public sector law, which calls for an in-depth understanding of the problems and issues of the workplace -- as well as an empathy for people in crisis. An active member in many civic and professional organizations, Mr. Pitt, a recipient of the Human Relations Honor Award for his contribution to improving race relations, was the founder and sponsor of the Philadelphia to Philadelphia Sister City Project in 1989 which brought hundreds of Philadelphians to Mississippi for a major Civil Rights Commemoration.
